If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Remember that insurance policies vary.

Orthodontic coverage is a separate benefit within a dental insurance package. Coverage varies but is often at the 50% level to a certain lifetime maximum. You can check with your plan administrator or the insurance company to determine the details of your policy.

Our office will provide you with the Canadian Association of Orthodontists Certified Specialist in Orthodontics Standard Information Form. Once this form has been submitted to the Insurance company, the carrier will advise you by letter of your coverage. For reimbursement, attach your receipt from our office to a Dental Claim form and submit both to the insurance company.

In a situation when both parents have orthodontic coverage, the person with the earlier birth date in the year is the primary subscriber. After the insurance company advises the primary subscriber of the coverage available by letter, the other parent then submits this Information to his/her insurance company along with the above mentioned Standard Information Form for adjudication.
